Finger Game

- a shoulder ladder built of tiny houses.

Introduction

Among common ailments, adhesive capsulitis often occurs among the middle-aged to earn the name fifty shoulder, which Veterans General Hospital Dr. Jan Ruei-chi estimates in 2012 that two out of every ten of the elderly suffer from the fifty shoulder. Those having contracted diabetes, cardiovascular, or car accident have a higher probability of occurrence, and although most of them are able to recover but it often takes 1 to 2 years’ time and the recurrence ratios are high. As the modern people spending extended time on computers and cellphones, with excessive work stress and also lacking exercise, the age groups of those contracting the diseases are significantly getting younger, which Chung Shan Hospital Dr. Pan Chian-li has statistically tallied in 2013 to find the disease-contracting rate among patents in their twenties and thirties has jumped suddenly by more than 20%; if not distinguishing by age, then the epidemiological statistics put it at approximately between 2% and 4%, which converts to some 460,000 to 920,000 people in Taiwan. The design has intended to utilize the game method to integrate healthcare into the lives of all age groups, through amusement to maintain one’s health and also achieve the effect of socializing health.

The design infuses the means of amusement by blending the shoulder joint healthcare habit into everyday life. The finger ladder components are shaped like buildings, which are attached perpendicularly onto the metal board, enabling the fingers to enjoy a Kung Fu-like gliding, chasing sensation, much like an architect erects a building, and which also signifies an inner-sanctum upward agility.  Offering cross-generational stress-relieving function, it enriches the toddlers, adults and elderly’s spatial dexterity, something fun to share with friends, family or even young children, bridging the mutual bonds and further achieving a routine healthcare yield.

How does it work?

The building blocks attaching to a wall surface stacking vertically upward allow a vertical 0 to 180-degree stretching exercise upward and downward.

When we play this game with fingers, it resembles a “finger” Chinese martial art master for flying over the eaves and running on the walls.

The patterns etched on the bottom combining a touch of the national cultural art like mahjong brings you an extra satisfying tactile touch and stimulating the thinking of the brain.

This design can play with family members, grandchildren or friends at home to relieve stress, maintain the relationship and also stay healthy.

If need be, each roof slope is equipped with a sensor connected to the metal floor, at any time to send the patient's progress to the professional therapist in order to see if the additional treatment stage.

How to play?

The game methods include the Chinese checkers, Go, Gobang, memory games such as pairing the patterns on the bottom, which are games that most Asian countries play without having to relearn it. The games also can create by themselves. The following of the video is going to introduce three of games in the video: Chinese Checkers, Super Memory, and Happy Stacking.

The houses can be also stacked over on a flat surface according to each person’s own creative artistic style to train eyesight and hand-feel stability.

Observing & Researching
